Tetra Tech worked to strengthen the institutional capability of the Bulgarian Government to prevent corruption and increase government transparency and accountability. Tetra Tech provided grants and targeted technical assistance to civil society organizations to encourage participation in and oversight of government activities. The project provided technical assistance, training, and support to strengthen the capacity of internal and external audit institutions and the audit units of government ministries. The project also worked to increase civil society involvement in anticorruption initiatives.
Tetra Tech, as a principal subcontractor to BearingPoint, worked to strengthen the private sector in Bulgaria. The program aimed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of institutions, mechanisms, and processes that are essential to the increased growth of commerce and commercial enterprises. The project provided technical assistance to the Ministry of Justice, the courts, and the private sector, streamlining business laws and regulations, implementing alternative dispute resolution programs in commercial matters, strengthening contract enforcement and execution of judgments, training, and conducting public education. The Tetra Tech team also conducted public education about needed reforms in the commercial law area and improving the procedures and practices of company registration.
