USAID’s Access to Justice Program focused on three interconnected programmatic areas. First, the program engaged in public awareness campaigns to ensure that vulnerable Iraqis are aware of their legal rights, better understand the remedies available to them, and know how to access the institutions responsible for guaranteeing that their rights are protected. Second, USAID’s Access to Justice Program strove to link Iraq’s vulnerable people with legal professionals, such as lawyers and law students, civil society partners, legal aid clinics, and citizen advocacy organizations. Third, the program promoted a legal framework and procedures to recognize, promote, and ensure the rights of the disadvantaged. Grant activities supported all program areas.
